Two people were fatally shot and a third was wounded in Atlanta on Monday afternoon. Police arrested a woman at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where they also recovered the firearm that was used.
A 60-year-old man, Michael Shinners, was killed at a condo building in Midtown, where the non-fatally wounded, yet-to-be-identified victim was also found and hospitalized. Wesley Freeman, 41, was shot at an office building nearby and died after being taken to the hospital, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“We do not believe these were random acts of violence,” interim police chief Darrin Schierbaum said in a press conference.
The suspect has not been named by APD and no potential motives have been disclosed. WSB-TV is one of several news outlets identifying the woman as Raissa Kengne. The local station reports that a source said she was “arrested in the terminal prior to going through security and had a .9mm Glock pistol in her purse.”
Mayor Andre Dickens clarified that the “security of the airport was never compromised.”
The Associated Press writes that police credit an “extensive camera network” with helping them find the suspect roughly two hours after the first shots were fired.
