21 Savage’s Felony Theft Charges Dropped

Written by on March 1, 2019

21 Savage’s legal situation just became a little less complicated.

The Blast reports that the felony theft charges against him, which were filed by a club promoter, have been dropped, and the money has become a civil matter. Court documents obtained by the outlet show officials in Liberty Country, Georgia dropped the charges last week, after 21 surrendered to the police, with TMZ sharing that the District Attorney rejected the charges. 21 showed up at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 15 and was released on his own recognizance.

The Georgia club promoter alleges that the rapper was given a $9,500 advance for a 2016 show. Upon arrival at the venue, 21’s team was allegedly given the remaining $7,500 balance. Savage, by the promoter’s account, didn’t hit the stage that night. The promoter has argued that the evening ultimately resulted in the loss of $17,000.

Authorities were first notified of these allegations in October 2016, at which point a police report was produced and paperwork for a Theft by Deception felony warrant was reportedly filed. A warrant is said to have been issued at the time. The promoter notified authorities once more following news of 21’s ICE arrest in early February, in an effort to have him picked up on the warrant.

A member of 21’s legal team predicted an agreement will be reached between both parties. “[21 Savage] has committed no criminal offense,” attorney Abby Taylor told TMZ on Feb. 15. “We look forward to an amicable resolution between the parties in the near future with no criminal implications whatsoever.”
