50 Cent is planning to expand his multimedia empire to include reality television with the addition of a new tattoo series on Hulu.
According to Deadline, the G-Unit boss has a new unscripted tattoo transformation series titled Redemption Ink in early development. The series will be on Hulu, and follows ex-gang and hate group members attempting to seek redemption through tattoos. The individuals will cover up the gang-affiliated tattoos that constantly remind them of their past and share their stories with the talented artists handling the ink.
50 Cent will be an executive producer through his G-Unit Film & Television company. SallyAnn Salsano of 495 Productions will also serve as an executive producer, while Luis Gutierrez will work on the show as a producer.
Redemption Ink is the latest show born out of 50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & Television banner. The company has produced several programs across several platforms, including 50’s hit Starz series Power which he executive produced, directed and starred in.
G-Unit Film & Television is on a roll with the Power Universe (Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanaan and Power Book IV: Force) and BMF. If that weren’t enough, 50 also announced three BMF spinoffs and the British boxing drama Fightland.
In February, 50 Cent signed a new deal with Fox following the end of his contract with STARZ. The partnership is a non-exclusive multiyear broadcast direct deal with Fox, which will have the 47-year-old develop scripted dramas, comedies, and animated series that would air on the network.
“I am excited to formalize a partnership with Michael Thorn and Fox that will allow G-Unit Film & Television to focus on putting multiple series on Fox, a perfect broadcast destination for G-Unit Film & Television content while our premium, streaming, scripted and non-scripted slates continue to grow in all directions,” 50 said in a statement.
