6.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes California

A 6.9 magnitude earthquake has struck California, with the epicenter being close to Ridgecrest, California. It was originally reported as being a 7.1 but was downgraded a short while later.

The quake was felt all the way in Las Vegas where Summer League was going down. The New Orleans Pelicans were playing the New York Knicks.

Ridgecrest, CA, is about 115 miles from Los Angeles and about 140 miles from Las Vegas which is why you could see the earth move at both the Dodger game and the NBA Summer League game.

A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was felt in Ridgecrest and surrounding areas just yesterday on July 4.
