JW Anderson x Converse Run Star Hike 164665C Release Date
Written by SOURCE on February 8, 2019
JW Anderson’s latest collaboration in his ongoing relationship with Converse re-imagines the timeless Chuck Taylor All Star with a brand new midsole to create the Run Star Hike.
The Run Star Hike originally debuted in Anderson’s Spring/Summer 2019 runway show in London last September. It places the upper of the white canvas high-top atop the chunky midsole tooling from the Converse Run Star, a heritage runner debuted by the brand in 2018. Blue and yellow sawtooth traction has also been added to the toe and heel area of the outsole for a more rugged, hiking-style look. Details like a heel pull tab further add to the hiking boot aesthetic. “1917” can be seen written by the usual All Star logo as a nod to the debut of the original model.
“Contrasting proportions have always been part of my design aesthetic. When I approached this latest Converse, I was looking to re-create the same aesthetic by pairing the sole of a Run Star with the classic Chuck Taylor to emphasize the proportions,” Anderson said in an official press release.
