With the NBA All-Star Weekend taking over Charlotte, North Carolina, a few of the state’s natives have taken it upon themselves to make sure the festivities were memorable. This includes J. Cole, who lent the New York Knicks’ Dennis Smith Jr. a helping hand during the All-Star dunk contest.
Smith tapped Cole to assist him for his second dunk of the night. Smith made the moment more special by donning J. Cole’s high school jersey as he soared over the rapper for the jam.
The judges gave the dunk a perfect score while Smith and Cole’s collaboration set the audience ablaze.
Cole’s appearance isn’t too much of a surprise since he’s been openly supportive of his fellow Fayetteville native. He’s been spotted cheering DSJ’s games when he was with the Mavs and told him to “stay solid” on 21 Savage’s track “A Lot.”
The KOD rapper is also no stranger the weekend’s events. In 2012, he competed in the All-Star Celebrity Game and caught an oop from Kevin Hart. The 34-year-old tried to show that he still got it by attempting a dunk on his own. He missed but at least touched rim.
J. Cole is also set to headline the All-Star Game’s halftime show.
