Lil Nas X and Elton John, who both have new albums on the horizon, have linked up for a new Uber Eats campaign ahead of the unveiling of their upcoming collaboration.
The two artists have been enlisted for the latest edition of the delivery app’s “Tonight I’ll Be Eating” campaign, the rollout for which kicks into high gear just over a week ahead of the release of X’s Montero album.
“It’s been absolutely wonderful partnering with Lil Nas X, one of the most influential voices in pop culture, and with Uber Eats, my faithful favorite for everything delicious,” John said in a statement. “From taking selfies to deciding to swap looks on set, working together has been a blast.”
John’s Lockdown Sessions is out Oct. 22 and also sees the iconic singer linking up with Nicki Minaj and Young Thug. The latter, as should be common knowledge by now, previously worked with John on “High” back in 2018.
For X, it was an honor to work with “the legendary Elton John” on this latest endeavor from Uber Eats.
“I’m so excited and honored to be working with the legendary Elton John on this Uber Eats campaign,” he said. “We had so much fun on set deciding what’s for dinner and trying on each other’s most iconic looks. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”
John and X’s “One of Me” collab is set to appear on both artists’ new albums. Up top, see the two link up for some look-stealing jokes in the name of Uber Eats. And below, see more:
Ahead of the Montero birth, X recently rolled out a pregnancy-themed photo shoot. It ruled. And in a separate interview with Jake Viswanath for Bustle, out Thursday, both X and John got candid about the inspiration behind their soon-to-be-released song together.
The song is described as one of the “most personal” ones on X’s new album. John, who joked that he would have “played ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’ if [X] was singing it,” also elaborated on the important message at the center of the new song featuring keys and “a little bit” of vocals from the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road artist.
“He’s basically saying fuck off to the people who said he couldn’t do it,” John, who admires what X stands for “so much,” said. “In a brilliant way, he’s putting down the people that put him down.” Elsewhere, John praised X as someone who “doesn’t give a flying fuck,” adding that “we need more people like that in the LGBTQ community.”
