Ice Cube Recalls Almost Killing Classmate for Swindling His Mom Out of $20

One constant thread throughout Ice Cube’s career is that he’s meticulous about his money and the funds of those around him. This trait led him to leave the biggest group in hip-hop in the world at the time, and it also almost led to him taking a man’s life.
During a new appearance on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Ice Cube recalled a “classmate” tricking his mother out of $20 with “some cockamamie story.” In response Cube, now 52, decided to try to get the ultimate revenge.
“I was so mad. You violated me and my family,” Cube said. “So, me and my friends were going around the corner to kill him. And he wasn’t home. So, thank God. … Because we were young, we were mad, we had a weapon, and it was going to happen.”
