Your first look at Colin Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay’s long-awaited Netflix series on Colin Kaepernick’s youth is finally here. Set to hit Netflix on Oct. 29, Colin in Black & White finds Kaepernick breaking down how he came up, delivering the hard lessons he learned on the path to becoming the man he is today.
Starring as Young Colin is Jaden Michael, who many should remember for his work in Netflix’s 2020 horror-comedy Vampires vs. the Bronx. This go ‘round, Michael portrays Colin Kaepernick at an important stage; we watch him learn about the world through the eyes of a gifted, confused teen, looking for acceptance and answers. Nick Offerman and Mary-Louise Parker star as Rick and Teresa, Colin’s parents who ultimately mean well, while Kaepernick guides the ship.
It’s an intriguing time to learn about some of our favorites. DuVernay and Kaepernick found a way to bring us Kaepernick’s story, using his words. For someone who’s silently said so much, it will be awesome to see how he became the person he is today.
