Lil Uzi Vert’s Pink Tape project will arrive later than expected.
During a recent encounter with fans, the Philadelphia rapper was asked if his much-anticipated mixtape would arrive before October’s end. Though his answer was disappointing, Uzi reassured everyone that Pink Tape would be worth the wait.
“No it’s not,” he said, when asked if the effort would drop next week. “Then it drops next week and then it sounds like shit and I gotta hear it from—well not from you—but I gotta hear it from 100,000 people on the internet saying, ‘This sucks!’ So you gotta let me take my time … I’m taking my time so it won’t suck.”
Uzi announced Pink Tape during a lengthy Instagram Live broadcast in December 2020, shortly after he delievered Pluto x Baby Pluto with Future. He provided another update back in August, telling a reporter that Pink Tape was in the middle of the mixing process.
“… Last time I dropped an album, it did really well,” he said on a red carpet at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club. “It was actually my highest-selling album, but it was a little bit experimental on the mixing part, not the actual music. So this time, I went experimental with the music and traditional on the mixing.”
Fast-forward to early October, when he said Pink Tape would likely arrive before November.
“Probably like three weeks,” he said when asked when his next project would drop, “before Halloween come out.”
Stay tuned as more information about the tape becomes available.
