A man who was out on bail for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes from Walgreens was charged this week for carrying out a similar robbery.
CWBChicago reports Kendrick Archibald, 33, has been charged with three counts of felony retail theft. While already awaiting trial for burglary charges after he allegedly stole over $4,000 worth of cigarettes from behind the counter of a Walgreens store in Grundy County, IL., Archibald was arrested this week for doing the same thing at three of the retailer’s Chicago stores.
The latest robbery was caught on video by a customer, who recorded Archibald and an accomplice stealing seemingly hundreds of packs of cigarettes from behind the counter.
Police say Archibald and an accomplice stole $ 1,467 worth of cigarettes from a Walgreens at 6310 North Nagle on June 26. Meanwhile, on October 24, the two stole $884 worth of smokes from the store’s 2440 West North Avenue location, and $4,600 worth from the 3110 West Armitage location.
Archibald has several previous convictions, including another retail theft in 2012, two felonies for forgery (in 2019 and 2005), a 2018 theft, and an unlawful use of a weapon by a felon charge from 2017.
A Chicago judge has ordered Archibald to be held without bail for violating the terms of his previous bond. The judge has set bail on the new charges at $70,000. Archibald was also ordering to be monitored electronically if he becomes eligible for release.
