Just hours after the Weeknd announced the follow-up to 2020’s After Hours, one of the album’s features, Jim Carrey, revealed he’s heard the project.
“I listened to Dawn FM with my good friend Abel @theweeknd last night,” wrote Carrey wrote. “It was deep and elegant and it danced me around the room. I’m thrilled to play a part in his symphony.”
The Weeknd shared the tweet, replying to the 59-year-old comedy legend, “Thank you for being a part of this. It’s kismet. Full circle.”
Earlier today, the Weeknd announced his new album Dawn FM is due out this Friday, Jan. 7. The Toronto artist broke the news with a trailer that teased “a new sonic universe from the mind of the Weeknd.” The trailer also revealed that Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne, Quincy Jones, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Carrey all appear.
Prior to the announcement on Monday, the Weeknd teased fans by telling them to “wake up at dawn tomorrow.” He recently shared a screenshot of his text messages with XO Records co-founder La Mar Taylor—also the Weeknd’s creative director—in which they hinted they would drop “the whole thing.” And way back at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards last May, he told the audience, “I just want to say the After Hours are done and the dawn is coming.”
