‘Blue’s Clues’ Movie Draws Comparisons to ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’

Nick Jr. meets the MCU? Well, not exactly.
Earlier this week, Paramount+ shared a first look at its upcoming Blue’s Clues film, Blue’s Big City Adventure. The hybrid live-action/animated flick will follow the titular dog and series host Josh (Joshua Dela Cruz) as they explore the Big Apple. The two will be joined by Blue’s Clues former stars Steve (Steve Burns) and his brother Joe, (Donovan Patton)—a reunion that has drawn comparisons to Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.
In the 2021 Spidey flick, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is united with Spider-Men from alternate realities: Tobey Maguire’s Parker, who led the franchise between 2002 to 2007; and Andrew Garfield’s Parker, who starred in the 2012 and 2014 installments. The sight of three Blue’s Clues hosts on the same screen immediately evoked the plot of the Spider-Man: No Way Home, as it brought together three beloved characters from the series’ biggest eras.
Blue’s Clues premiered on Nick Jr. in 1996 with Burns serving as the original host. Patton took over in 2002 and appeared in a couple of seasons. In 2019, Nickelodeon relaunched the children’s franchise with Blue’s Clues & You; the show starred Dela Cruz as Josh, the cousin of Steve and Joe.
Paramount+ hasn’t revealed any more details on Blue’s Big City Adventure, but confirmed it’s expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
