Acne Studios Recruits Rabin Huissen for SS22 Collection

As part of its Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Acne Studios has partnered with Netherlands-based artist Rabin Huissen for a series of garments that depict various mixed media representations of human beings.
The offering features a T-shirt, a short-sleeved shirt, long-sleeved tops, tunics, an oversized zip-up hoodie, and trousers which have been dressed in Huissen’s ethereal work. Across the capsule, the creative hones in on “an exploration of the soul’s communicative energy and the concept of time” a reference that is showcased through images of humans who appear to be in an alternative reality or somewhere beyond.
For the collaboration, Huissen has utilised several disciplines, including photography, drawing, painting and installation, to create an offering that is both impactful and inquisitive. To address the present moment and the human condition, the artist “let’s go” to produce imagery that could be seen as pages of his diary.
Key pieces include the long-sleeve shirt, which features a patchworked human anatomy in a heat-map-esque colourway, and a shirt that has been dressed with a pair of hands coming out of the hem. Other printed pieces, such as the tunic, appear in various colour-blocked states—alluding to the idea of life beyond death—while T-shirts have been designed with more subtle variations of the artist’s work.
