Fresh off earning a spot in XXL’s 2021 Freshman Class, Rubi Rose looks to continue her momentum in 2022 with her latest single, “I Like.”
The new song is accompanied by a music video which sees the Lexington, Kentucky rapper make her co-directorial debut behind the camera.
“I don’t need a beat, bitch/I’m on stage with the bands/In the club like ebony, I came here to dance/Hair down to my ass, skin look like cinnamon,” Rose raps on her hard-hitting opening verse.
Following memorable appearances in the music videos for Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” and Cardi B’s “WAP,” Rubi cemented her status as one of the hottest rookies in the game with her debut mixtape, For the Streets. Released in December 2020, the project featured her breakout hit “He In His Feelings,” as well as guest appearances from Cardi, Future, and PartyNextDoor.
From there, the 24-year-old grew her buzz last year with a string of guest features on Rico Nasty’s “Smack A Bitch (Remix),” Young M.A.’s “Don Diva,” and Rich the Kid’s “Nasty.” Rubi’s breakout year crested with a spot in XXL’s Freshman Class alongside names like 42 Dugg, Blxst, Pooh Shiesty, and more.
