It appears as though Drake has entered the world of trading cards.
Ahead of a recent LA Fav Cards livestream, in which the company hosted a “live break” that was attended by Drake, the card store shared an image on Instagram of cases that seemingly belonged to Drake. “Welcome @Champagnepapi,” the caption read, adding “lets get that Triple Logoman!!”
LA Fav Cards then hosted the livestream, which was attended by Drake, who watched as his Hobby Direct Flawless box was opened. Check all two hours of it out below.
As pointed out by ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, Drake also posted his haul on his Instagram Story. If the boxes are, in fact, NBA Flawless boxes that retail for around $15,000, Drake spent an estimated $200,000 in total.
Drake also confirmed he was looking for the rare Triple Logoman card, which McDaniel said “could set price records.”
Celebrity jeweler Ben Baller, who has worked with Drake plenty of times in the past, added on Twitter, “He just copped 20 boxes of flawless trying to get that triple logo man.”
Baller also tweeted that he had a lengthy phone conversation with Drake about his interest in collecting sports cards. “Had a hour+ convo with Drake last night about the hobby and he loves the rush of live breaks,” Baller wrote. “He’s chasing monster cards. I don’t have to tell you how big this is for the hobby. Thx @kaibentlee for bringing him in the game. He copped another 25 cases of flawless too!”
The sports card industry seen a major boom over the past few years, and Drake getting involved is bound to bring it more eyes. It’s such a big business in fact, a Michael Jordan card sold for upwards of $2.7 million at an auction last year.
