Lil Baby’s ‘My Turn’ Sets New Billboard Chart Record

Written by on March 18, 2022

Lil Baby’s My Turn is still going strong.

According to Billboard, the 2020 studio album has logged 85 weeks in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart—marking the longest top-tier run in the chart’s history. The previous record-holder was Post Malone with Hollywood Bleeding, which spent 84 weeks in the top 10 between 2019 and 2021. Prior to that project, Malone held the record with 2016’s Stoney and 2018’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, both of which surpassed Michael Jackson’s Thriller with 77 weeks in the chart’s top 10.

My Turn has led the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for six out of 106 total weeks. The project also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking Lil Baby’s first-ever No. 1 project. It has since gone multi-platinum in the United States, and has received a slew of honors, including Grammy, AMA, and Billboard Music Awards nominations.

The album served as the follow-up to his 2018 debut effort, Harder Than Ever, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

“I called it My Turn ’cause I feel like everybody else had a lil’ turn,” he said in 2019 Instagram Live stream. “It’s my turn now. Everybody dropped their mixtapes, their albums – go number 1, number 2, number 3.”

Lil Baby took to Twitter last week to tease upcoming material: “It’s Gone Be A Nastyyyyy Summer,” he wrote. “My turn again.”
