Betty White’s Beachfront California Home Sells For $8 Million

Betty White’s estate has found a buyer for her $8 million California beach house, per TMZ.
The 3,621-square-foot home in Carmel, CA—which White and husband Allen Ludden bought the plot for in 1978 for $170,000—now has a potential new owner. Ludden and White completed construction on the 4-bedroom, 5-bathroom house in 1981, shortly before Ludden died, and White had kept it since.
The home was listed with the phrase “here, paradise is yours,” and it overlooks the ocean, walking trails, and entry into the beach. The listing was ran by Nicole Truszkowski and Zak Freedman of Sotheby’s International Realty, and the offer was accepted this week.
White, who died peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 31 at 99-years-old, has seen plenty of friends honoring her following her passing. Among them, the Monterey Bay Aquarium decided to honor her by making her a namesake. Since White apparently did it all—from “penguin airlifts” to “scrubbing in to assist with sea otter surgery”—the aquarium named its planned giving program after the Golden Girls star earlier this year, citing her “tireless devotion to animal advocacy work.”
We are renaming our planned giving program the Betty White Ocean Legacy Circle,” a tweet read. “Thank you for being a friend to so many, Betty, and for always reminding us that good things happen when we work together to make a difference.”
