Just a few weeks after appearing on Dreamville’s D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, Bas returns with his new EP [Bump] Pick Me Up.
The four-track project includes Bas’ previously released single “The Jackie” featuring J. Cole and Lil Tjay, as well as guest appearances from Gunna (“Admire Her”), Ari Lennox (“The Others”), and Galimatias (“Eyes on You”).
On Twitter earlier this week, Bas said he’s “dropping off a summer pack to lift the spirits.”
Based on an Instagram post Bas shared in March, [Bump] Pick Me Up appears to have been born from a dilemma posed while creating his next full-length. The rapper asked fans for opinions on how he should structure his project. “I have an 11 song version of my next album,” he wrote. “Very cohesive, minimal features. Emotional. Vulnerable. An all time vibe.”
He continued, “Then there’s a 17 song version. With the ‘hits.’ Big features. But a break in cohesion. A sacrifice in direction. I feel the latter will be better for my career. But the former is a truer showcase in my artistry. Everyday I’m torn between the two.”
