Marcus Smart Ejected After Pushing Joel Embiid

Emotions ran high at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.
On Wednesday night, the 76ers took on the Boston Celtics. During the third quarter of the game, Celtics guard Marcus Smart got into an physical altercation with Sixers center Joel Embiid. The incident occurred at the 11:08 mark of the quarter, when Smart fell the floor after running into a hard screen set by Embiid. Seconds later, Smart picked himself up and gave the All-Star a forceful, two-hand shove, which sent Embiid flying.

Embiid charged back at Smart, but both players were restrained by their respective teammates and refs. Embiid was hit with a technical foul for the hard screen, while Smart received a flagrant 2 foul, which resulted in an immediate ejection. As he made his way to the locker room, Smart made sure to taunt the cheering Philly fans.
Smart left the game after 19 minutes of play, in which recorded 3 points and 4 assists. Embiid made 37 points, 22 rebounds, and four assists.
The Sixers secured a 118-115 victory over the Celtics in Wednesday night’s game.
