With a new album on the way and the approaching ten year anniversary of his debut mixtape, Joey Badass is set to take his music on tour this July.
Entitled the 1999-2000 tour, the Pro Era rapper’s summer tour will see him hit up major cities along both coasts. The tour will not just coincide with his upcoming album 2000—which drops on June 17—but it also coincides with the ten-year anniversary of 1999, his breakthrough mixtape. Supporting him on the tour is rising singer-songwriter Capella Grey.
On Wednesday, the New Yorker announced the project alongside a brief trailer. Set to footage of skaters, the clip features a tease of new music. In an interview with XXL, Joey revealed some of the producers that he worked with on his album. “I got my boys on there: Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight. I got a Cardo joint on there. I got a Mike WiLL [Made-It] joint on there. I’m supposed to be getting in with DJ Premier this week ’cause I told him I can’t complete this album if we don’t link up,” he said.
Prior to the album and tour announcement, Joey shared a run of singles including “The Rev3nge” and “Head High,” although it’s not clear if either song will show up on 2000. “Head High” was debuted via a performance on A Colors Show. The upcoming project marks his first new full-length since 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Badass.
