The 2022 edition of the Indigenous Fashion Arts Festival hits Toronto from June 9-12, with this year’s iteration having been expanded to include a series of documentaries shot on the iPhone 13 Pro.
As teased above in an official sizzle reel, the festival enlisted 25 designers from around the world to create unique visuals using an iPhone. The videos, each edited under the oversight of critically revered filmmaker Shane Belcourt and featuring music from Cris Derksen, will be shared online this week to coincide with the festival’s in-person runway experiences.
In May, the festival’s runway lineup was announced. Opening the four-day event on June 9 is a show titled Eternal Imaginaries, featuring work from designers including Amy Malbeuf, Evan Ducharme, Robyn McLeod, Michel Dumont, Indi City, and Curtis Oland.
The show will be followed by Sovereign Matriarchs on June 10, Time Weavers on June 11, and closing night show A Letter From Home on June 12.
