Watch Nick Cannon’s L.A. Leakers Freestyle Over “Int’l Players Anthem”

Written by on July 5, 2022

Fresh off founding a pediatric cancer foundation in honor of his late son, Nick Cannon paid a visit to Power 106 on Tuesday to spit some bars for the L.A. Leakers.

Cannon kicked things off with a freestyle over EarthGang’s “Power,” a track from their latest album Ghetto Gods, which features Cannon and Cee-Lo Green on the hook. From there, the TV personality tackled UGK and OutKast’s 2007 collaboration “Int’l Players Anthem,” a classic, soulful beat that samples Willie Hutch’s “I Choose You” and was produced by by DJ Paul and Juicy J.

“I’m over here painting pictures and y’all worried about the captions/Just read below right here in the comments and I promise it’s happening/They gotta be like ‘that n**** ain’t snappin’/Cannon give up on that rappin’/That’ll never go platinum,” Cannon raps over “Power.”

Nick’s freestyle arrives just over a month after he made his return to music with the R&B mixtape Raw N B: The Explicit Tape. The 14-track project features an ode to his ex-wife Mariah Carey (“Alone”), as well as guest appearances from Chris Brown (“I Do”), Rick Ross (“My Pimpin”), 42 Dugg (“P*ssy Is Fire”), Ty Dolla Sign (“Nobody Else”), Jacquees (“Lil Bro”), and Brandy (“F.A.I.T.H.F.U.L.”), among others.

Back in June, Cannon announced the launch of Zen’s Light, a foundation named after his late son Zen, who last December passed away at just five months old following a battle with brain cancer.

“‘Zen’s Light’ mission is to foster global excellence in hope, grief-care, and pediatric healthcare for families and children in need,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for everyone who joined us at this inaugural event…Can’t wait for next year where our Lighting Gala will continue grow to help find a cure for pediatric Cancer, further research and help console more families during difficult times.”
