Meek Mill Parts Ways With Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management

Written by on July 11, 2022

Meek Mill has split from Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Management, which has overseen the Philadelphia rapper’s career since 2012, Billboard reports.

The news arrives 10 years after Meek signed a management deal with Roc Nation. Back in 2019, they joined forces for a joint venture deal for Meek’s Dreamchasers label. That same year, the Philly rapper teamed up with Jay-Z to launch Reform Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on reforming parole and probation policies.

Earlier this year, Meek expressed his frustration with Roc Nation and his label, Atlantic Records, for not promoting his latest album, Expensive Pain, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

“They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions ….. how would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies “I don’t,” Meek tweeted in February.

Meek went on to blast Atlantic for hurting his relationship with Roddy Ricch.

“I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them rape me out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail … they still saying I can’t drop music until 9 months after my last album got blackballed just wrapped buildings and Nina art with talent,” he wrote.

Meek continued, “Roddy my youngin still …. But that label seperated us instantly when the millions came in from him… same thing they tried to do with me and rozay … it takes a long time to catch up too because most of em tied in for the love of some money …artist scared to speak up.”

Complex has reached out to Meek’s rep for comment.
