Elon Musk Addresses Claim He Had Affair With Wife of Google Co-Founder

Elon Musk has addressed a report alleging he “engaged in a brief affair” with Nicole Shanahan, a CodeX research fellow and wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin.
Over the weekend, the Wall Street Journal cited sources as claiming that Musk and Shanahan’s alleged affair had prompted Brin to file for divorce. As previously reported, albeit without any mentions of any alleged Musk involvement, Brin did indeed file for divorce from Shanahan earlier this year.
In response to a tweet about the claimed rift on Sunday, Musk called the story “total bs” and said he and Brin remained friends.
“I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around,” he added. “Nothing romantic.”
In another tweet addressing the allegations, Musk pointed to the “crazy hours” he maintains as—in his words—not leaving “time for shenanigans.”
Earlier this month, Musk was reported by Insider to have welcomed twins in 2021 with a Neuralink executive. The bulk of the headlines focus on Musk in recent months, however, has remained on the developments surrounding a would-be Twitter buyout deal.
Following Musk’s announcement of his decision to call off the multibillion-dollar offer, Twitter was reported to be suing Musk, arguing in a recently filed complaint that Musk has engaged in “a long list of material contractual breaches.”
Musk was mentioned last week in documents related to Twitter’s unveiling of its second quarter 2022 operational and financial highlights, with revenue for the period in question stated as having been affected by the “uncertainty” over the pending acquisition.
