Nicki Minaj will soon allow fans to see a side of her they have never seen before in the six-part documentary series Nicki.
Nicki shared the trailer for Nicki on Thursday, which she teased on Instagram would be “coming out sooner than [sic] you think.”
Check it out below via Twitter.
“I took some time to perfect this very intimate, delicate, electrifying, inspiring body of work,” Minaj wrote on Instagram. “As I decide on a home for this project, I can’t help but reflect on what I’m including in this doc. Some things are so personal, it’s scary. It’s like NOTHING you’ve seen before & I need it to be handled with care. Love you so much. Thank you for the continued support.”
Nicki hasn’t released a studio album since Queen in 2018, but over the last four years, she has experienced some incredible highs, which include marrying Kenneth Petty and giving birth to their first child.
In the trailer, it appears Nicki reached a personal breakthrough when she stepped away from the business and realized that she needed to “start loving myself.” On the heels of releasing the Lil Baby-assisted song “Do We Have a Problem?” in February, Minaj told Zane Lowe that a new album was “coming very soon, obviously,” adding, “That’s why I started putting out music.”
Five months later, her fans are still waiting, but Nicki appears to be ramping it up soon with a new episode of Queen Radio on Amazon’s Amp app scheduled for August 11, ahead of the official release of the highly-anticipated track “Freaky Girl” the following day.
Minaj first announced that the docuseries was in the works in November, and said it would be directed by Michael John Warren, an Emmy-nominated director who previously helmed the 2004 Jay-Z doc Fade to Black.
