Despite having a close relationship with both Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Warren G and 2Pac never joined forces on wax after the latter signed with Death Row Records in 1995.
During an appearance on the latest episode of Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, Warren opened up about how his relationship with Suge Knight prevented him from collaborating with ‘Pac.
“We didn’t get a chance to link up after he got out — actually, I seen him one time when he got out,” Warren G shared. “We was in the House of Blues and he hugged me like, ‘Warren!’ We was huggin’ for a lil’ bit and then he hit me a few days after that and he was telling me let’s get in the studio, I’ma book some time.”
Warren went on to reveal that a “particular situation” with Suge made him apprehensive about teaming up at Death Row’s Can-Am Studios, the site where Warren had previously been jumped by Suge and his crew.
“I was like, you know what, I’m not gettin’ ready to be—I’m not gon go out, and you know, I ain’t just ready to step out there,” Warren said about meeting ‘Pac and Suge at Can-Am. According to Warren, Knight sent goons to the studio, where they confronted him about alleged comments he made about Suge.
“I ain’t gon’ lie, I wanted to pull [it] out and start bussin’, but I had to think because it was a bunch of dudes right here outside of the door, bunch of police that was workin’ at the same time around that time, so I was in a fucked up situation,” Warren said about the confrontation.
