Canadian singer-songwriter Esthero co-wrote “Love Lockdown,” “RoboCop,” and “Street Lights” on Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak, but after Ye wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his YZY SZN 9 presentation in Paris, the Ontario-born artist says she’ll donate her portion of the publishing to Black Lives Matter Los Angeles.
Esthero said she’d like to get the process going in a tweet.
“Let me be crystal clear where I stand on this. I invite the other co-writers to do the same,” she added.
Esthero, real name Jenny-Lea Englishman, was an acclaimed trip-hop artist in her home country in the late 90s with her debut album Breath From Another. She was also featured on “Weekends” by Black Eyed Peas in 2000 and has worked with Nelly Furtado and others.
