Zion Williamson’s Blown Out Nikes Have an Estimated Value of $250,000

Auctioneer Ken Goldin told TMZ that the Nike PG 2.5 PEs Zion Williamson blew out less than a minute into Duke‘s February home game against North Carolina have an estimated value of $250,000. “It’s definitely a six-figure, iconic piece. It is the most famous pair of sneakers in the world,” Golden explained. “If it ever went up for auction, it would be a fight between Nike and a collector.” 

Before reaching his final valuation, Goldin considered all the factors that led to the prized item’s estimated price tag. “This is something that was nationally televised, very famous and before he became a pro. It happened on a national stage. It does not get bigger than that,” he said. “It would not surprise me if it topped $250,000.” 

In the days leading up to Duke and UNC’s ACC showdown, the cheapest ticket at Cameron Indoor Stadium was reportedly going for nearly $3,000. With former U.S. President Barack Obama showing up in person to see Zion in the flesh, the game could not have been bigger.

The Grade 1 right knee sprain that Williamson suffered from the blown out Nikes reignited the conversation of forcing highly valued prospects to play at least one year of collegiate basketball, and running the risk of potentially hurting their value before the draft. Coincidentally, reports of the NBA submitting a formal proposal to lower the draft age for the league to 18 to the National Basketball Players Association came one day after his injury. As Zion was recovering from his knee ailment, sports personalities started to speculate if he should even play another game for the Blue Devils. 

Remember, all of this talk came after Williamson’s Nikes blew out. Are we sure that these sneakers shouldn’t go for a lot more than $250,000? Before they can be auctioned off, though, someone needs to find those shoes, because Zion isn’t telling anyone about their whereabouts.
