Kendall Jenner Opens Up About Her Fyre Festival Affiliation

After two documentaries brought the cringe-worthy details surrounding the failure that was Fyre Festival to light, many celebrity models and influencers were implicated in the scandal, given their affiliation with the scam. Kendall Jenner found herself embroiled in the controversy, since she was one of the A-listers scheduled to attend the ultimate music festival that never was.
In an interview with the New York Times, Jenner explained the nature of her partnership with the festival, and how she could have done more to ensure she was cosigning a reputable venture.
“You get reached out to by people to, whether it be to promote or help or whatever, and you never know how these things are going to turn out, sometimes it’s a risk,” she explained. “I definitely do as much research as I can, but sometimes there isn’t much research you can do because it’s a starting brand and you kind of have to have faith in it and hope it will work out the way people say it will.” Adding that even when she knows her collaborators, “you never really know what’s going to happen.”
Kendall’s Fyre-related commentary was packaged in a family-wide profile written by Amy Chozick, best known for her Hillary Clinton coverage, for the Times. In addition to Kendall, Choznick asked Kylie about the “self-made billionaire” classification she was given by Forbes.
In the interview, Kylie admits that the title isn’t entirely accurate, noting, “I can’t say I’ve done it by myself.” However, she does stand by the financial impetus behind Forbes’ ranking. “If they’re just talking finances, technically, yes, I don’t have any inherited money. But I have had a lot of help and a huge platform.”
Additionally, Kanye’s role in Keeping Up With the Kardashians was also explored in the article, which he has said he will play a larger part in. “The new season of KUWTK […] will prominently feature Kanye, who will be regularly (and novelly) interviewed for into-the-camera confessionals,” Choznick mentioned. She further explains that the artist played a crucial role in the show’s rebranding efforts.
The first episode of the 16th season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired Sunday on the E! Network.
