The countdown is over. Smino has finally released his Luv 4 Rent album, the much-anticipated follow-up to 2018’s NØIR.
The Missouri-born artist has been teasing the project for months, sharing its J. Cole-assisted single “90 Proof” as well as a short promo video featuring Bootsy Collins. Smino didn’t confirm the album’s official drop date until last week, just days before he unveiled Luv 4 Rent’s full tracklist.
The record spans 15 tracks, including titles like “4rm Da Source,” “No Ls,” “Ole Ass Kendrick,” and the previously released cut “Matinee.” In addition to the Cole feature, Luv 4 Rent also boasts contributions from Lil Uzi Vert, Doechii, Lucky Daye, Fatman Scoop, Phoelix, and more.
Smino spoke about the release during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, where he revealed his plans to deliver a Luv 4 Rent sequel.
“This whole album, Luv 4 Rent, it’s about having fun and recognizing your inner love, You feel me? Straight up self-love vibe. I felt like I wasn’t personally doing that for myself, You feel me?” he explained. “But this is just part 1 of the album. … Yeah, I ain’t never said that to nobody. My manager’s going to be like, ‘Damn, bro!” But yeah. Come on, you know I got to tell Zane the real, bro.”
You can stream Luv 4 Rent via Apple Music and Spotify below. Smino will support the effort with a 32-date North American tour alongside JID. The trek will kick off Jan. 22 in Seattle and include stops in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Chicago before wrapping up March 29 in Nashville. Tickets for the tour are available now online.
