Marni Heads to Tokyo for Fall/Winter 2023 Runway Show

Marni’s world tour continues.
After making its NYC debut back in September, the Italian label made its way to Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium, where it presented its ready-to-wear collection for fall/winter 2023. The event came more than a month after Marni’s creative director laid out his plans to present each new collection in a different city, before returning to the label’s birthplace in Milan.
“A year ago, I decided to stage a series of traveling shows with our team and a crew of musicians to bring energy to different cities and give back to our friends and communities around the world. But these are not repeat shows,” Risso told WWD, adding that his goal was “to be present in the epicenters of our communities and not in some remote or isolated place.”
The latest offering was unmistakably Marni, delivering a wide range of experimental garments that were equal parts quirky and elegant. There were oversized suits presented in bright yellows and reds; boxy overcoats with allover check and polka dot patterns; elongated puffer jackets with extra high collars; and, of course, a solid grip of head-turning knitwear in both slim and bulbous silhouettes.
