Kanye West Paid Tribute to Nipsey Hussle During Sunday Service

Written by on April 8, 2019

Kanye West paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle during his most recent Sunday Service, TMZ reports. The weekly showcase in Los Angeles gave Ye a chance to honor the Angeleno who was murdered in front of his clothing store earlier this week.

Kanye played a clip of Hussle delivering a characteristically uplifting speech. That built to a full choir singing in honor of the late rapper, joined by the band that Kanye had assembled for the weekly jam.

Kanye was the latest rapper to honor Hussle, whose sudden death shocked the rap community. Both J. Cole and Big Sean took a moment to toast Hussle during Cole’s Dreamville Fest

Nipsey is also being honored with a memorial service in the Staples Center on Thursday. It’s unlikely to be the last tribute to Hussle, following what LeBron James called “one of the most unfortunate events that’s happened in American history.”

As for Kanye’s Sunday tradition, the rapper recently announced that he would bring it out to the California desert for Coachella, playing a special Easter Sunday edition of the get-together for crowds in Indio. Kanye has recently hinted at the end of the weekly concert, and a blowout at one of the country’s biggest festivals on Easter seems like an entirely fitting end for the gospel-tinged show.
