SZA’s ‘SOS’ Returns to Top Spot on Billboard 200 Albums Chart

SOS is back on top.
On Sunday, Billboard confirmed that SZA’s universally acclaimed sophomore album has once again secured the No. 1 position on the Feb. 18-dated edition of the Billboard 200 albums chart. This, of course, brings the album’s total number of nonconsecutive weeks in the No. 1 slot to eight.
For the week ending Feb. 9, SZA’s album earned 100,000 equivalent album units, enough to send it back to the top of the chart. At No. 2 for the week is Taylor Swift’s Midnights, followed by TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION. Rounding out the top five are Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous and Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains.
Next month, SZA will become the latest artist to receive the Woman of the Year honor at the Billboard Women in Music Awards. While SZA is receiving the night’s top honor, Latto and Kim Petras, among others, are also being distinguished with the Powerhouse and Chartbreaker awards, respectively.
Decidedly more imminent, however, is the fact that SZA’s arena tour (her first ever) will kick off in Columbus next week.
The SOS era has also boasted the thrillingly rewatchable video for album track “Kill Bill,” which starred Vivica A. Fox and drew inspiration from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies. In fact, the Christian Breslauer-directed video proved so successful that it later resulted in Fox herself speaking out about revisiting the film franchise for a third go-around.
Last Friday, SZA and Lizzo partnered on a remix of the latter’s “Special.” Listen here.
