Following the guilty verdict of three men involved in the killing of XXXTentacion, the rapper’s mother has suggested they will be targets behind bars.
In comments provided to TMZ, Cleopatra Bernard gave her thoughts on the life sentences the three men were given at their sentencing earlier this week. She said the time they received was appropriate, and accused suspect Michael Boatwright of blowing her kisses throughout the trial. She said she hopes Boatwright, who she called “Buttright,” will “now get the kiss he wants so bad” in prison.
She went on to say the three men would be the targets of other prisoners due to the circumstances surrounding her son’s death. “My hope for these other gentlemen is they will retain a firm grasp on the slippery soap,” she said, referring to the threat of sexual violence she believes these men might face in prison.
Last month she shared a post on her Instagram Stories celebrating the verdict. “You finally got justice Jah,” she wrote.
Boatwright, Trayvon Newsome, and Dedrick Williams were found guilty of robbing XXXTentacion at gunpoint and fatally shooting him at age 20 in 2018. Boatwright was the man who pulled the trigger, and the three of them made off with a Louis Vuitton bag and $50,000 in cash in the fatal robbery. Their co-defendant Robert Allen identified Williams as the getaway driver, while the other two confronted the rapper outside the Florida motorsport dealership. Allen is facing a minimum of 25 years in prison and will be sentenced at a later date.
“This is a loss we will never truly recover from,” XXXTentacion’s former manager Solomon Sobande said in a statement following the verdict. “We will never get to see Jahseh live to his full potential, we will never get to watch him grow old, we will never get to watch him be a father.”
