Bad Bunny’s team has clarified that the Puerto Rican singer meant no ill will towards Harry Styles when he displayed a tweet about “As It Was” during his Coachella performance.
During his performance of “El Apagón” over the weekend, the screen behind the singer displayed the following tweet: “goodnight benito could do as it was but harry could never do el apagon.”
Fans immediately assumed Bad Bunny was throwing shade at Styles, who beat out Bad Bunny for album of the year at the 2023 Grammy Awards, but a rep confirmed in a statement to Rolling Stone on Monday that the Un Verano Sin Ti singer never approved of the image shown during his performance.
“Our intention is to create light-hearted designs that embody Bad Bunny’s personality and amplify the experience he presents as a performer,” the statement read. “The request from the artist during the visuals for ‘El Apagón’ performance was to use the image only and not text from the tweet, which we take responsibility for and corrected it for Friday’s performance. These visuals are a celebration of Bad Bunny and his dedication to empowering his native island, Puerto Rico.”
Bad Bunny made history during his Coachella slot when he became the first Latino to headline the Indio, California music festival.
In other Bad Bunny news, the “Me Porto Bonito” singer released the music video for “Unx100to” with Groupo Fontera, which finds both musicians singing about their dying phone batteries outside of an abandoned ranch as they try to call their ex-lovers.
