Schoolboy Q Jokingly Asks J. Cole for Name of Fake Streams ‘Machine’ Mentioned on “A Lot”

Written by on April 16, 2019

Schoolboy Q is dropping his fifth studio album CrasH Talk on April 26, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to have his project finish at No. 1 in its first week.

On Monday, Q sent out a message to J. Cole—without actually tagging him—on his Instagram Stories, jokingly asking him for some information on that “machine” he was talking about on the 21 Savage song “A Lot.”

“Let me get my little shine on for a week,” Schoolboy Q said. “Then J. Cole, he telling n***as they faking their streams, and the machines, well n***a, what was the machine called? Shit. Everybody ain’t got it like J. Cole. So J. Cole, what was the machine called that n***as is using for their fake streams ‘cause I want to borrow that motherf**ker. I’m tryna ball, let me see something real quick.”

On the 21 Savage song “A Lot,” Cole starts off his verse by speaking on the various shady practices being used to inflate an artist’s overall numbers. “Question, how many faking they streams? (A lot),” he raps. “Getting they plays from machines? (A lot) / I can see behind the smoke and mirrors / N**as ain’t really big as they seem.” While the “Middle Child” rapper is knocking anyone taking such measures to boost their sales, this method isn’t beneath Q, especially if it helps him get to the top spot.

Elsewhere in Schoolboy Q’s video, the rapper makes mention of BTS
