‘Thrones’ Fans Wonder Where ‘Prince(ss) Who Was Promised’ Prophecy Goes Now

Following the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3, “The Long Night,” a debate among fans has been bubbling up.
*Spoilers below*
Azor Ahai, a legendary figure in the Game of Thrones universe, famous for ending the actual Long Night, might have finally showed their face last night. A prophesied savior known as the “Prince Who Was Promised,” fans have been speculating on when Azor Ahai would come into the story for years. Fans initially believed that Jon Snow was said prince, while in the show Daenerys believed she was; the prophecy’s subject was revealed to be gender neutral last season. Now fans are looking towards Arya Stark.
In “The Long Night,” the Night King finally meets his end when he comes face to face with Arya. While this doesn’t prove she is Azor Ahai, it definitely makes it seem more plausible. In Season 3, Arya spoke with Lady Melisandre, who told her, “I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you’ll shut forever.” With at least two brown-eyed famous victims to her name, and now one blue-eyed one in the Night King, speculation on the Azor Ahai prophecy coming to life through Arya is higher than ever.
Since Jon Snow, Daenerys, and Stannis Baratheon have all been prophesied as Azor Ahai previously, the possible revelation in “The Long Night” has fans split on what it means for the story going forward.
