Tony Stark’s Memorable ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Line Was Added Last Minute

If you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame, here’s your warning that spoilers lie ahead.
Here’s a video posted by Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man, breaking out random dance moves to help you avoid any spoilery material.
Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo recently held a Q&A in Washington D.C. where they revealed during their discussion about the film’s final battle scene that Stark originally didn’t say a single word before snapping his fingers with the Infinity Stones he stole away from Thanos on his makeshift gauntlet.
So how did we go from that original approach to the final scene where Stark gives the perfect rebuttal to Thanos’ “I am inevitable” line by giving us a call back to his “I am Iron Man” line from the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 2008’s Iron Man?
“Tony used to not say anything in that moment. And we were in the editing room going, ‘He has to say something. This is a character who has lived and died by quips.’ And we just couldn’t, we tried a million different last lines,” the Russo brothers explain. “Thanos was saying, ‘I am inevitable.’ And our editor Jeff Ford, who’s been with us all four movies and is an amazing storyteller, said, ‘Why don’t we just go full circle with it and say ‘I am Iron Man.’ And we’re like, ‘Get the cameras! We have to shoot this tomorrow.'”
Good thing Jeff Ford was around to help bring the 22-film Infinity saga of the MCU full circle with just four words.
