Young Money Artist Flow Gets Life in Prison for Double Murder

Written by on May 15, 2019

On Tuesday, 27-year-old rapper Widner “Flow” Degruy was sentenced to life in prison for double murder after jurors voted 11-1 to convict him back in April, NOLA.com reports.

The double murder, which took place in New Orleans, occurred in 2015 and claimed the lives of brothers Kendred, 18, and Kendrick Bishop, 22. The bodies of the two men were found inside a black Kia on May 25, 2015.

Flow, who was sentenced to life without parole on charges of second-degree murder and given 30 years for conspiracy to commit murder, signed to Lil Wayne‘s Young Money label back in 2012.

Degruy also received 40 years for obstruction of justice and another 30 years for conspiracy to obstruct justice from Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier. The rapper’s sentence will be served concurrently. Degruy, who pleaded guilty to the obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice charges, will also get credit for time served.

Prosecutors alleged that Degruy committed the murders because he believed that Kendred and Kendrick stole $8,000 and two guns from the car of his girlfriend.

“In the beginning, I hated you,” Assistant District Attorney Irena Zajickova said in court, reading a statement from Sherry Strauss, the mother of the two deceased brothers. “I considered you a monster. Today, I no longer hate you. I feel sorry for you.”

The statement continued: “Maybe your parents didn’t love you enough like you wanted, but our boys were well-loved, and you knew it.”

Degruy plans to appeal the conviction.
