YoungBoy Never Broke Again on Victim Slain in Shooting: ‘I Wish They Would Have Gotten Me’

Written by on May 20, 2019

YoungBoy Never Broke Again struck a remorseful tone through his attorney in addressing his involvement in a shooting in Miami Beach that resulted in the death of a bystander last Sunday. In an interview with the Miami Herald, NBA YoungBoy’s lawyer James Manasseh claimed that his client was “the victim of an assassination attempt,” adding that the rapper told him, “‘I wish they would have gotten me, not him.'”

NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell Gaulden, was leaving the Trump International Beach Resort where he was staying and headed to the venue to perform at Rolling Loud when a black Cadillac Escalade drove past and someone opened fire. Members of YoungBoy’s entourage, all of whom had a legal right to own a gun, returned fire. It was one of those bullets that struck 43-year-old Mohamad Jradi, a Hertz rental car employee, who was killed by a stray bullet on his way home after finishing his shift.

NBA YoungBoy has since been ordered by a judge to be detained under the suspicion of a probation violation due to a “prohibited social media posting” related to the shooting. District Judge Bonnie Jackson has ruled she’s “90 percent sure” after reviewing footage that YoungBoy is the person in the video.

If this is applicable under her guidelines of “concrete, demonstrable evidence,” Jackson will revoke his probation and order him to serve his suspended 10-year sentence. YoungBoy has been arrested twice since Jackson put him on probation, and he’s managed to avoid getting thrown back in jail. This time, he may not be so lucky.
