Offset Hit With Default Judgement in Beatdown Lawsuit

Offset has reportedly lost a legal battle stemming from a 2018 assault.
According to TMZ, the 27-year-old rapper was hit with a default judgment after he allegedly “ignored” a civil lawsuit filed by Giovanni Arnold. The plaintiff claimed the Migos member and Cardi B‘s entourage viciously attacked him outside The Mark Hotel in New York City. Video obtained by TMZ shows Arnold attempting to get an autograph from a then-pregnant Cardi, following a post-Met Gala event.
“Oh c’mon, don’t be like that, mama,” he said in the video, after the rapper presumably declined his request. “I just asked for an autograph. I’m an autograph hound.”
The video then shows several men punching and kicking Arnold as he’s on the ground. Cardi and Offset did not appear in the assault footage. Though the couple and their security were cleared of criminal charges back in March, they still had a civil suit on their hands.
“The assault comes on the heels of several other violent incidents precipitated by Cardi B and Offset, all of which should have indicated to [Quality Control Management] that their security team’s propensity for violence made them more of a threat to the public than vice versa. As a result of the attack, Plaintiff was severely injured,” the suit read.
It’s unclear how much Offset will have to cough up or if he’ll try to fight the judgment. Though the Migos rapper has allegedly ignored the complaint, Cardi has been responding.
