Big Sean Shares New Track “Single Again” f/ Jhené Aiko and Ty Dolla Sign

Written by on July 26, 2019

Big Sean is in a generous mood.

Hours after releasing “Overtime,” his first solo single of 2019, the rapper confirmed he was dropping more music ahead of the weekend. Sean preceded the announcement with a series of tweets in which he reflected on a previous relationship—presumably with Jhené Aiko—and transitioning into single life.

“I never knew that I didn’t know how to be alone in life,” he tweeted Thursday night. “I always would find so much joy n happiness in a relationship or being with friends, but I didn’t know how important it was to be in a relationship with yourself.”

Sean continued:

Sean then revealed the cover art for a new track called “Single Again.” The cover featured the message: “I’ve decided to take my time and get it right. Work on myself and wake up and smell the roses.”

The track features vocals from Aiko and Ty Dolla Sign, with co-production by Big Sean Dee Lilly, and Cam O’bi.

Sean raps:

Honestly, all the disrespect god damn near ruined me

All the trust gone, seem’s like all you say is “prove it to me”

And you know I second line, don’t go do it to me

Maybe ’cause my mama never worked it out with my dad

Maybe ’cause she had insecurities and she had ’em bad

Maybe ’cause single parallel was all I ever had

You can stream “Single Again” now on Apple Music and Spotify.

The 31-year-old artist has been teasing his fifth solo album, Don Life, throughout 2019. During a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Sean shed some light on what fans could expect from his upcoming music. And it sounds like his Day 1s will be pleased.

“I just been returning to my roots, bro,” Sean said. “I’ve just been getting back to having fun with it. At one point, I felt like it might have started to become like a burden, or like work, but now it’s just fun. So this is just me having fun bro, expressing myself. It was a time well spent.”

Stay tuned as more information about Don Life—the follow-up to 2017’s I Decided—becomes available.
