Stream Chance the Rapper’s Debut Album ‘The Big Day’

Written by on July 26, 2019

Chance the Rapper has had no trouble keeping busy. Over the past several months, the 26-year-old artist has tied the knot with the mother of his child, contributed to the live-action remake of Disney’s The Lion King, tried his hand at stand-up comedy, continued his philanthropic efforts, and helped bring back Wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets. But tonight will mark one of the biggest days in Chano’s career: the release of his first studio album, The Big Day

The project marks the follow-up to Chance’s critically acclaimed 2016 mixtape, Coloring Book. The Chicago rapper has been steadily teasing the LP on social media, sharing a few snippets, a promotional single, and a bit of insight into what it’ll deliver.

“The whole album has been inspired by the day that I got married and how I was dancing that day,” he said in a recent interview with Zane Lowe. “It was the hardest I ever danced in my life and I’m a great longtime dancer. Everything in it is all the different styles of music that make me want to dance and remind me of that day and remind me of that night and all those people that were there […] I’ve been waiting to make an album for a long time […] Just making two songs a day. And trying to have fun. But at the same time, I understand that it’s going to be more. More songs. More flexes. More dancing. Just more.”

You can stream The Big Day now on all major platforms and/or buy it here. Chance will also embark on a tour in support of his debut album. Trek stops will include Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, and his hometown of Chicago.

In celebration of the album’s arrival, Chance held a Spotify-hosted release party in Chicago for more than 500 fans. Chance performed “Groceries,” as well as selections from previous catalog entries like Acid Rap and Coloring Book.

Release day festivities also included a Postmates rundown of the preferred nourishment of Chance and his studio team during Big Day sessions. When in studio mode, Chance is said to be fond of treating the team to an assortment of baked goods, “specifically fresh croissants, coffee, and cake to share with everyone.”

All told, Chance has spent more than $30,000 on Postmates over the last five years. These relatable purchases range dramatically from a single $1.32 order of fresh cilantro to a $439.97 iPad Mini.
