James Harden has risen from the Sixth Man of the Year to become Houston‘s franchise player; he’s expected to earn $38 million next year. He’s sharing the wealth.
Harden and his friends—including Adidas marketing manager Troy Payne—took a vacation trip to the Bahamas this summer. They decided to take a four-wheeler ride through the island, where Payne captured footage of Harden’s philanthropy. The guard was handing out random amounts of money to local residents, according to Sports Illustrated. As seen in the clip, Harden gives a mother $10,000 when he saw that she and her family were fishing for food.
This trip was a part of the world tour that Harden has been on since the season ended. Earlier in the summer, Harden took a trip to China to engage with his fans in the country. This week, The Beard posted an Instagram video of himself and teammate, Eric Gordon, working out in the Bahamas.
Harden and the Rockets are looking to make a push in the new Western Conference; it’s wide open when the Warriors dynasty on the rocks.
