Despite its obvious fakeness, an Instagram post including copied-and-pasted text stating “Instagram does not have my permission to share photos or messages” has gone viral, effectively ensuring the Facebook-ization of all we hold dear.

Scooter Braun, Waka Flocka, Judd Apatow, Julia Roberts, Taraji P. Henson, Josh Brolin, Rob Lowe, El-P, T.I., and Rick Perry are among the assortment of They Should Probably Know Better participants in the hoax being spread across the platform. While some have since deleted the posts, others are sticking with it, despite the aforementioned obvious fakeness.

In a statement to WWD, brand communications manager Stephanie Otway was unfortunately forced to dispute the veracity of the hoax post’s claims. “There’s no truth to this post,” Otway said, presumably with eyes rolled.

If you’re patient enough to read through the actual text of the shittily assembled screenshot hoax, you’ll likely notice that this sort of thing has been making the rounds in random waves on Facebook since at least 2012. There’s even a handy Snopes debunking that’s quickly findable.

Come on!
