Jeremy Lin, Beijing Ducks Agree to Contract, Lin Says Goodbye to NBA

Written by on August 27, 2019

Jeremy Lin made headlines earlier this summer when he shed tears while discussing his free agency. Now, the former Toronto Raptors guard has signed a deal with the Chinese Basketball Association’s Beijing Ducks, according to Bleacher Report.

Lin confirmed the news on Twitter and Instagram:

Lin played on eight different organizations during his career in the NBA—and never spent more than two successive seasons with the same franchise.

After rupturing his patellar tendon in 2017 to 2018, Lin was picked up by the Atlanta Hawks during summer 2018. He then joined the Toronto Raptors after he was bought out by the Hawks. He had a reduced role during the Raptor’s championship run, averaging 1.1 points in 3.4 minutes per game, only making eight appearances during the postseason.

In late July, he became emotional while discussing his then-ongoing free agency: “I feel in some ways like the NBA has given up on me.”

Sportando’s Emiliano Carchia reported in late July that Lin had declined an offer from CSKA Moscow because he didn’t want to play in Europe at that time and was hoping for an NBA contract. Lin was reportedly in “advanced talks” with Beijing by mid-August.
