It Sounds Like Kanye West Won’t Be Making Secular Music Anymore

Written by on September 29, 2019

Kanye West successfully held his second listening for his ninth studio album, Jesus Is King, in his hometown of Chicago.

The pop-up was held at the Auditorium Theatre, and similar to the one in Detroit, it instantly sold out on Ticketmaster.

Andrew Barber of FakeShoreDrive was in attendance and revealed the official poster for Kanye’s IMAX film titled Jesus Is King: A Kanye West Film. He also confirmed the appearance of Pusha-T, No Malice, and saxophonist Kenny G on the record.

“New Body,” a song that was initially teased on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, has been cut from the album. Maybe more accurately is to say Nicki Minaj, who was presumably supposed to be on the record, has been removed to try and finish up the album so it releases on time.

“New Body” is a collaborative track that features Ty Dolla Sign as well, according to a report by E! News. Fans won’t know which version Ye decides to put on the album until Sunday.

Barber also noted that Kanye is no longer making secular music. If Kanye intends to make gospel music or the rest of his career, then it falls in line with his recent dedication to God and his messages.

Kanye plans on hosting one last listening event in New York before dropping Jesus Is King. Ticketing info for that will be released soon.
