Academy Award-nominated actor Robert Forster died on Friday (Oct. 11). He passed away in his Los Angeles home following a short battle with brain cancer, Deadline reports. He was 78.
Forster was prolific during his five-decade career, appearing in over a hundred films, including The Descendants, Me, Myself & Irene, the Fallen film saga, Mulholland Drive, and Twin Peaks: The Return. After a down period in the early ’90s where he was relegated to doing low-budget films, Forster made his comeback as bondsman Max Cherry in Quentin Tarantino’s 1997 film, Jackie Brown. His performance earned him his lone Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Forster’s final performance is the highly anticipated El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, which hit Netflix the day of his death. He is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and his long-time partner, Denise Grayson.
