An unidentified man dressed as Donald Trump was standing in line with his family for the haunted house exhibit at the Collier County fairgrounds in Naples, Florida this past Saturday. Then a 14-year-old girl reportedly walked up and punched him in the face, Naples Daily News writes.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office says that after striking the man in the jaw, the girl laughed and ran back to four other juveniles who were holding her place in line. The man walked over to ask why she punched him before flagging down a fair worker, and requesting for sheriff’s deputies to report the incident.
During the deputy’s questioning of the girl and her parents, a woman who identified herself as a Collier County School system employee claimed the event was captured on video and posted on Instagram. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office says it cannot release the footage until the courts have decided on the case.
The alleged teenage attacker is now facing a misdemeanor charge of battery after the deputy informed her family that since “the sole motivation was to strike ‘Trump,'” investigators may further explore this matter with her at a later date.
This girl’s physical response to the sight of someone in a Trump costume comes days after he was mercilessly booed and serenaded with chants of “lock him up” at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. when he was shown on the jumbotron during Game 5 of the World Series.
